ABSTRACT
In Pakistan the protection of religious minorities finds little place in the Constitution. The need to protect the Islamic identity of the state leads to forms of discrimination that are particularly severe against some religious groups, i.e. the Ahmadiyya. Forced conversions and the abusive use of blasphemy laws are sometimes instrumental to the restriction of individual freedoms and induce members of non-Islamic denominations to leave the Country. Jurisprudence, Government and Legislature often clash in an attempt to define the principles that guide the coexistence of religious denominations in Pakistan.
