ABSTRACT
The article illustrates some peculiarities of the civilly recognized ecclesiastical entity that make it still valid to guarantee the freedom of the Church. First of all, it prevents a canonical legal person from assuming an improper role and constituting a “duplicate” in the civil law system. Furthermore, it can carry out any type of activity, being able to choose to subject any “activities of general interest” carried out to the discipline of the ThirdSector. Finally, the controls that the canonical order establishes for public legal persons have civil validity.
