Abstract
This contribution sets out the salient features of the speeches given at the Study Conference 'Rereading the Masters' organised by the Faculty of Law of the University of Naples Federico II by Professors Maria D'Arienzo and Giovanni Battista Varnier in memory of the ecclesiasticists Francesco Scaduto (1858-1942) and Domenico Schiappoli (1870-1945), both professors at the University of Naples and considered among the founding fathers of modern ecclesiastical law.
