Abstract

This essay aims to examine the relationship between emergency activities and the exercise of the right to freedom of worship in collective form, with regard to the Italian Ortho- dox Jewish communities. The rules introduced to deal with the first phase of the epidemiological emergency have had a high impact on Jewish religious life, also considering the many halachic precepts that do not allow to substitute, through modern technologies, essentially relational community moments. Ultimately, the discussion focuses on the worrying resurgence of ancient and new forms of antisemitism linked to the pandemic crisis.
