ABSTRACT
The contribution examines the profiles of compatibility with the European Union anti-discrimination law on religious grounds of the status of religious education teachers employed in the Italian public schools with successive fixed-term employment contracts, on which the Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled, following a preliminary reference. The paper also underlines the possible prospects arising from the Italian court’s finding of abuse of the succession of fixed-term contracts in the absence of elements justifying their use.
