Abstract
The essay is focused on the evolution of womenโs right to equality. Notable results are achieved in family relationships: by dismissing the priority of the attribution of fatherโs surname; allowing a new function to the divorce and recognizing womanโs right to religious freedom in the context of the marital relationship. However, in the exercise of sport activities and in access to work, the right to equal dignity of women must clear several obstacles embedded in the entrenched relationship between the right to religious freedom and sport one. The essay shows that the strict interpretation and observance of religious precepts sometimes hides cultural and social biases implicity based on the presumed inferiority of women.
